Member of the National Association
of Writers Groups.
Meet on the first Thursday of each month at the
United Reform Church
Fisherton Street
Salisbury.
7 – 9 pm.
All about us:
The Group’s aim is to help writers to achieve their writing potential,
share information and to provide a thoughtful and careful critique of each
other’s work when asked to do so.
Our membership of the National Association of Writers Groups (NAWG) gives
members free entry to all their competitions. Their Annual Open Festival is
usually on the first weekend in September. We circulate copies of NAWG magazine,
‘Link’ among our members. . Guest fee is £3 per meeting,
annual subs £30.
Our aim is to grow the group until we have enough members to provide special-interest
spin-off groups for poetry, novels, short stories, comedy and drama.
When funds permit, to invite some guest speakers, to produce an annual anthology
of our work and hold events at which members can read their work.
Our chairman, Susan Down, runs a ‘Beginning to Write’ course for
six weeks each autumn. A ‘Continuing to Write’ course is being
prepared for spring 2008 by popular request.
Our most exiting project to date has been the publication of our first anthology
‘Inkspots.’ Some pages from the magazine are available on the
website. Copies available from Cross Keys Bookshop, priced £4.
